Week 1, Day 1

Last night i had my first official personal training session ... so let me preface this whole entry with this ...those of you who know me, really know me, know that i have spent many many hours throughout my life inside a gym ... i've taken all sorts of classes, lifted weights, done lots of cardio but my true passion is spinning!! i absolutly adore spin classes! i feel like i get to take all of my days aggression, confusion, and overall bad attitude on my bike and best of all, when class is done, it stays with the bike ... that being said, i also lift weights three to four times a week .... so why hire a trainer and a nutritionist ... well i gave in! im tired of putting in all this hard work and not seeing results ...

so my first training session ... there were two parts ... first part was the overal health critique ... my trainer took my weight and my height and determined my BMI (you will learn that i hate those three letters) and entered it all into his handy dandy computer program which then designed a woman to look like me ... they were even able to adjust her hair and eye color!!! so since i am all of 5'0' my little avatar (for a lack of a better word) ended up being totally short and squatty with a big tumy and big legs. When my trainer asked me what I thought, I wanted to cry and tell him he was the root of all evil .. but i didn't ... i simply shrugged and told him we needed to change that real fast ... and on to the workout we went ...

so first and foremost was my cardio ... since i am a spinner im used to moving quickly and a very high intensity ... who would have thought a little eliptical would kick my ass ... hahah! i didn't ... so what he had to do was intervals ... 2 mins going nice and steady and slow and then one minute explosion ... fast and heavy ... i was pooped by the time my cardio was done ... then it was on to some strenght training with the balance ball. confession #1: i own a balance ball and the only thing i have ever done with it was sit on it and bounce up and down because it was fun ... after squatts and shoulder presses, curls and triceps, and a ton of core work (including planks) i felt like i needed to be wheelchaired into my spin class :(

so first lesson learned: keep up the positive attitude, change up my routine and learn more excercises to help me acheive my goals ...

i would have to say, day one was good!!! i felt like, for the first time in my life, i was actually on the road to long time success!!!
today will be day 2 ... todays focus in primarily on designing a strict and regimented eating plan! cross your fingers and wish me luck!!
